Audit rules

Page Blocked From Indexing

A noindex or none directive for all robots or for Googlebot, in the robots meta tag or the X-Robots-Tag header. Critical when the page is declared as meant to be indexed, otherwise shown for review. In a QuikSEO audit, a failure has critical severity and counts against the score. The exact condition, its exceptions and its sources follow below.

01 — Definition

How This Rule Is Checked

The rule is a pure function of the fetched page: no extra requests, no account settings. The same input always gives the same result.

Required for a score

Condition and Exceptions

Condition
noindex or none in meta robots or X-Robots-Tag → fail critical only when the page is declared as meant to be indexed (expect_indexing true, per audit or website); when the expectation is unknown (the default) or indexing is not expected → review, severity label warning, no penalty
Exceptions
HTML mode: check meta only

Sources and Project Decision

Project decision
Critical only when the owner declared that the page must be indexed (the "Should be indexed" setting of the audit or its website). With no declared expectation (the default, and always the case for the anonymous audit) or when indexing is not expected, the result is review with severity warning and never changes the score (plan 5.2).
